The Dead Demon Consuming Seal is a seal developed by the Uzumaki clan.[2] It invokes the power of a spectral entity known as the Shinigami (死神; English TV "Reaper"; Literally meaning "death god") that can only be seen when it grasps one's soul. Once called upon, the Shinigami hovers behind the user and wraps its left arm with prayer beads, uttering some unintelligible chanting, and after some time a cursed seal appears on its arm. The soul of the summoner is then partially separated from the body and restrained by the Shinigami's hair as it thrusts its arm into the user's chest to grab the soul of its target. At the user's command, the Shinigami then performs the sealing by dragging the target's soul into the user whose stomach is branded with the seal's mark. However, the sealing is double-edged as the user's soul is devoured by the Shinigami along with the target's, both souls trapped for all eternity within the fiend's stomach.
It is also possible for the user to seal multiple targets through the use of shadow clones. The methods of sealing vary, Hiruzen needing to get close to his targets in order to perform the sealing,[3] while Minato was able to extend the Shinigami's hand to grab Kurama.[4]
As the jutsu is completed the death god appears behind the user. this is only visible to the use and anyone in it's grasp. In the first post the Shinigami is summoned. the user then has the remainder of the duration to grasp it's opponent with the arm of the Shinigami that protudes from their chest when summoned.
Should the opponent be grabbed. they lose an amount of chakra equal to the users remaining CP divided by 10. so if the user has 320 chakra points remaining the opponent loses 32 chakra. This is permanent and the target is incapable of retraining those points. If this should drop the target's chakra to 0 or less the target's soul is swallowed by the Shinigami.
Regardless of any of this at the end of the duration the user's soul is also swallowed by the Shinigami. This kills the user and target should their souls be swallowed.
Should the jutsu Dead Demon Consuming Seal: Release be cast then reincarnation jutsu may be used to resurrect the souls swallowed by the Shinigami.
